Day 1: Welcome to Algeria

Welcome to a country rich in history and cultural wealth, where the past and future coexist harmoniously: Algeria. On our first day in the capital, you will embark on an unforgettable journey through streets where history meets modernity.

After checking into the hotel and enjoying lunch, we begin our exploration at one of the city's iconic landmarks—the Jardin d'Essai, or the Botanic Garden. This lush oasis offers a peaceful retreat as you immerse yourself in the greenery and the charm of Algerian nature.

Next, we visit one of Africa's largest art museums, the Musée des Beaux-Arts, where you can enjoy a collection of masterpieces while overlooking the captivating Mediterranean views.

In the afternoon, we take the funicular up to the Maqam Shaheed (Martyrs' Memorial) for a stunning panoramic view of the Algiers Bay. Here, we reflect on the country’s fight for independence as we visit the Musée de l'Indépendance (Independence Museum).

Later, we step back in time at the Bardo Museum, where prehistoric, Paleolithic, and Neolithic artifacts offer a glimpse into Algeria’s ancient past.

Day 3: Exploring Bejaia – A Journey Through History and Nature

We depart early in the morning towards Bejaia, a charming coastal city rich in history and culture. Upon arrival, we begin our exploration at the medieval Bejaia Kasbah (Old Bougie), perched strategically above the harbor, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding area. This historic site is a testament to the city’s ancient roots and its significance through the ages.

From the Kasbah, we proceed to visit several key landmarks:

Gueydon Square – The lively heart of Bejaia, a place that reflects the city’s blend of history and modernity.
Bordj Moussa Fortress – Offering panoramic views of the city, this fortress overlooks the Mediterranean and offers a glimpse into Bejaia’s strategic importance.
The Old Synagogue – A historic site showcasing the rich, multi-faith heritage of the city.

After immersing ourselves in Bejaia’s cultural treasures, we head towards the natural wonders of the region. We wind our way through the Yemma Gouraya Mountains towards Cap Carbon, home to the world’s tallest lighthouse. Surrounded by turquoise waters, this stunning location offers magnificent vistas of the Mediterranean Sea.

As the day draws to a close, we take a relaxing drive along the Mediterranean Corniche, a scenic coastal road, where we can unwind and enjoy traditional dishes and fresh seafood, accompanied by local concerts that add a festive touch to the evening.

Day 4: Djemila & Sétif – Traces of Rome and the Heart of History

After a hearty breakfast, we set off towards the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Djemila Archaeological Park. Once known as Cuicul during the Roman Empire, this breathtaking site is considered one of the best-preserved Roman ruins in the world.

During our exploration of this historical gem, we will discover:

The Arch of Caracalla – A magnificent triumphal arch dedicated to the Roman Emperor.

Sétif is also historically significant as the site where the events of May 8, 1945, unfolded, marking the beginning of Algeria’s journey toward independence. This adds a layer of emotional depth to our visit as we witness the place where pivotal moments in history took place.

Day 5: Constantine – The Majestic City of Bridges and Heritage

In the early morning, we set off towards one of Algeria’s most captivating cities, Constantine – known as the "City of Bridges" for its stunning suspension bridges spanning deep gorges.

Our journey begins with a visit to the Martyrs' Memorial, a striking monument that stands as a testament to the city’s rich history and struggle for independence. Afterward, we descend into the heart of Constantine, where we’ll immerse ourselves in the traditional Casbah streets that echo Ottoman influences.

In the afternoon, we shift our focus to the city’s natural beauty. We will venture down into the Oued Rhummel Canyon, offering a unique perspective of the city. Walking across the historic Pont des Chutes, built in 1925, you will be mesmerized by the breathtaking waterfalls and cliffs beneath. From this vantage point, we will also have the opportunity to view the iconic Sidi M’Cid Bridge from below, adding a stunning dimension to our visit.

Day 7: Exploring Ancient Rome and Natural Wonders: Timgad, Lambèse, and the Majestic Ghoufi Canyon

At the first light of day, we embark on a journey to the ancient city of Timgad, known in antiquity as Thamugadi, founded by Roman Emperor Trajan. This UNESCO World Heritage-listed city will transport you back thousands of years, with its grand streets, theater, and forum offering a glimpse into the marvels of Roman civilization.

Next, we head to the ancient city of Lambèse, once a key Roman military base. This archaeological site, with its impressive architecture and well-preserved structures, feels like a living history book.

After lunch, we turn our attention to nature as we venture into the Ghoufi Canyon, nestled at the foot of the Atlas Mountains. This stunning canyon presents awe-inspiring rock formations and ancient cave dwellings, offering a breathtaking landscape. Day 8: A Day at the Desert’s Gateway: Biskra and the El Kantara Oasis

After breakfast, we head towards the enchanting El Kantara Oasis, often referred to as the "Gateway to the Desert." This oasis, with its 6,000 palm trees, the ancient Wadi el Hay Roman Bridge, and the thermal spring Ain Skhoun, offers a refreshing glimpse into the desert’s cool embrace.

A memorable picnic lunch awaits you, set amidst the shade of palm trees and accompanied by breathtaking views of the oasis.

In the afternoon, we move on to Tolga, the birthplace of the world-famous Deglet Nour dates. During harvest season, you can observe the bustling activity of the region and witness the story of these golden fruits as they are cultivated in the palm groves.

We wrap up the day with a traditional dinner at a local restaurant, where you can savor one of the region’s favorite dishes, the flavorful and hearty Doubara.

Day 9: Biskra to Bou Saada – Exploring Art, Culture, and the Desert's Beauty

After breakfast, we depart from Biskra and head towards Bou Saada, a city renowned for its traditional crafts and historical richness, located near the Sahara region.

Upon arrival, we explore the old town, where you’ll have the chance to discover the local handicrafts that have been passed down through generations. Next, we visit the Etienne Dinet Museum, which showcases the unique art of the region. Etienne Dinet, a French painter, beautifully captured the mesmerizing landscapes of Bou Saada on his canvases.

To end the day, we take a walk through the sand dunes surrounding the city, witnessing the breathtaking sunset and soaking in the serene beauty of the desert. We’ll conclude this magical experience with a traditional cup of tea, making the moment truly unforgettable.

Day 10: Bou Saada to Ghardaïa – Journey into the Heart of the M'Zab Valley

We depart early in the morning from Bou Saada towards Ghardaïa, with a scenic 6-hour journey ahead of us. During the trip, we’ll stop for a delightful picnic lunch, surrounded by the vast landscapes.

Upon our arrival in Ghardaïa in the afternoon, we’ll be warmly welcomed by our local team. Our first stop will be Beni Isguen, where we’ll explore the Ksar At Izjan. As we wander through the maze-like streets, we’ll immerse ourselves in the traditional way of life of the Mozabite people. This unique region, known for preserving its culture and customs, will offer you a fascinating glimpse into history and a journey through time.

Day 11: Journey into the Magic of the Desert and Nature

On this special day, we will immerse ourselves deeply into the spirit of the Sahara. We begin the morning by visiting the Ksar Tajnint in El Atteuf, where we will witness the local history of the region. After that, we’ll explore the tomb of Cheikh Ami Brahim, a site that sheds light on the religious and cultural heritage of the area.

Next, we’ll visit the Tafilalet Ecological City and Eco Park, a great example of environmental conservation. Here, you’ll experience firsthand the concept of eco-friendly living and sustainability.

After lunch, we embark on a peaceful horse safari through the palm groves, where you’ll find yourself journeying through breathtaking natural beauty, almost as if opening a door to another world.

The afternoon will continue with an exhilarating 4x4 safari across the golden sands. This thrilling adventure will leave you with unforgettable memories. As the day comes to a close, we’ll watch the sunset, witnessing the breathtaking desert landscape unfold before us, with the Sahara sky creating a magical atmosphere, painted in a riot of colors.

Day 12: From Ghardaïa to Oran: From the Magic of the Desert to the Serenity of the Sea

After breakfast, we will visit the famous Ksar of Taghardait and explore the traditional handicraft market. Then, at 16:20, we will head to the airport for our flight to Oran, with an expected arrival at 18:00. Upon arrival in Oran, we’ll check into our hotel and drop off our belongings.

In the evening, we’ll set out to explore the city, heading towards the iconic Kristel. As the night falls, we’ll experience the vibrant atmosphere of Oran, enjoying the Mediterranean climate and the coastal charm of the city.

Day 13: Oran - A Journey Through Time in the City

Today, we begin with a pleasant walk through the historic streets of Oran. As we wander through the narrow alleys of the old town, we’ll pass by the Étang coastline and Kléber Square. Our first stop will be the beautiful Sacré-Cœur Cathedral.

Next, we’ll visit 1st November Square, where we’ll see the monument dedicated to Emir Abd El-Kader. Another fascinating stop will be the Town Hall, built at the end of the 19th century, before we head to one of Oran’s cultural landmarks: the Theatre-Opera House. Continuing our exploration, we’ll pass by Victory Square and Hoch Quarter, reaching the seafront.

We’ll then take a detour to visit Yves Saint Laurent’s childhood home, offering a glimpse into the early years of one of the most influential names in haute couture.

Our next stop will be the ancient arenas of Oran, which highlight the city’s architectural history. From here, we’ll ascend to higher ground, taking the funicular to reach the Ribat al-Talaba Mosque, offering stunning views over the city.

The day’s pinnacle will be a visit to the Santa Cruz Fortress, built by the Spanish in 1577. From the Santa Maria Chapel, we’ll enjoy a breathtaking sunset overlooking the Oran Bay.

To end the day, we’ll head to Canastel, where we’ll take a serene evening walk with beautiful views of both the sea and the city.

Day 14: Between Oran and Tlemcen – A Day of Rich Traditions

We'll hit the road early this morning for Tlemcen, a city celebrated for its rich history and architecture. On the way, we'll make a quick stop to admire the Eiffel Bridge, an impressive feat of engineering.

Once we arrive in Tlemcen, we'll visit the Sidi Boumediene Mosque, considered one of Algeria's most beautiful structures. This stunning place of worship offers both a historical and spiritual ambiance with its remarkable architecture.

Our visit continues at the Mansourah archaeological site, built by the Sultan of Fez in the 14th century. Here, we'll trace the footsteps of the past and witness Tlemcen's deep-rooted history.

Next, we'll explore the new part of the city, dedicated to Arab-Andalusian art. The architecture of the Mechouar Citadel and other local buildings will captivate us with their Andalusian influences and elegant details.

To cap off the day, we'll take the funicular up to the Lalla Setti plateau, situated on the heights overlooking Tlemcen. Here, we'll peacefully conclude our day with panoramic views.

We'll return to Oran in the evening.

Day 15: Oran / Tipaza / Algiers

We'll depart early this morning for Tipaza. This ancient city, one of North Africa's most impressive archaeological sites, allows us to explore a center of civilization that maintained its richness for centuries, with remnants from Roman, Phoenician, Early Christian, and Byzantine periods.

Afterward, a delightful lunch of fresh fish and local delicacies awaits us by the seaside. In the afternoon, we'll head to Cherchell, a historical village thousands of years old, nestled beyond the Chenoua Mountains. As the capital of King Juba II, this city offers visits to its ancient theater, forum, baths, and an archaeological park reflecting the architecture of the era. We'll also explore the museum, which houses one of the region's most impressive collections of ancient sculptures and mosaics.

On our way back, we'll see the Royal Mausoleum from the outside, a 32-meter-high stone tumulus also known as the "Tomb of the Christian Woman." This monument, whose mystery still endures, is believed by some to belong to Cleopatra Selene, daughter of Cleopatra, while others attribute it to Berber kings.

We'll return to Algiers in the evening and have our dinner.

Day 16: Algiers / Return Home – A Farewell Full of Memories

We wake up in Algiers on the final morning of our trip. After breakfast, we'll head to the airport. The cultures we explored, the history we touched, the people we met, and the magic of the desert have now become unforgettable memories etched in our minds from this unique journey.

Before boarding our flight, we'll take one last deep breath of the Mediterranean breeze, bidding farewell to North Africa.
