Day 1: Step by Step into Adventure – Welcome to Senegal - December 7th

Upon your early morning arrival at Diass Blaise Diagne International Airport, our Mama & Baba Africa Tours and Travels team will greet you and transfer you to your hotel. After a short rest, we'll start our day with breakfast at the hotel, then set off to explore Dakar, the capital of Senegal.
First, we'll head to the Plateau district, which reflects Dakar's historical and cultural fabric. We'll enjoy panoramic views of iconic landmarks that date back to the French colonial period, such as the train station, city hall, Independence Square, and the Presidential Palace. Next, we'll drive along La Petite Corniche road, stretching along the Atlantic Ocean coast, to visit the Divinité Mosque with its elegant structure overlooking the sea, and the African Renaissance Monument, representing Senegal's modern face.
Around noon, we'll take a approximately 25-minute ferry ride from Dakar Port to Gorée Island. This impressive island, which bears the painful marks of the slave trade throughout history, is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our island tour awaits us with highlights such as Castel Hill, offering panoramic views, the House of Slaves, built in 1776 and still leaving deep imprints on memory today, Saint Charles Church, and the narrow, colorful streets adorned with flowers.
After our visit, we'll return to Dakar by ferry. Overnight stay will be at our hotel in Dakar.
Day 2: From Retba to Lompoul - December 8th
After breakfast, our journey begins toward the captivating Lake Retba. This lake, a lagoon that merged with the sea in the fifteenth century, has stood out for many features throughout its history. Upon arrival, we'll take a canoe tour, observing the salt harvest around the lake and exploring the salt extraction techniques and the lake's unique ecosystem.
Following our tour, we'll continue our journey toward the desert landscapes. Upon reaching Diogo/Lompoul, we'll venture deep into the desert in 4x4 vehicles.
